The Hidden Gem

There is something about being near a waterfall that makes you feel completely recharged. Water in motion produces an abundance of negative ions, bringing you more energy and vitality. I’m positive that it’s this feeling that keeps continuously pulling me back to find more waterfalls to capture. I don’t know if it’s the negative ions that the falling water produces, or just the fact that they are usually found deep in mother nature where the air is crisp and fresh.

I was out hunting for interesting waterfalls, when I came around the corner and stumbled upon this one. Waterfalls are one of my favourite things to take pictures of because no waterfall is identical and you can really apply some creativity to the moving water. I decided to compose this shot as a narrow vertical panorama because the waterfall needed to be dramatic. I wanted to show that not far above, a seemingly tranquil stream, can be a rushing waterfall hidden by the lush forest
